Deliveroo Serves up Major Success in Scotland

  • Edinburgh based restaurant triples its premises since becoming a Deliveroo partner in under 3 years and reveals plans for multi-site expansion across the North East
  • Fellow independent restaurant Feed doubles its operations in just 18 months
  • The food delivery service is working with over 400 independent restaurants across Scotland and inspiring food success stories

Deliveroo is helping to inspire a new wave of food entrepreneurs in Scotland. Edinburgh eateries BURGER and Feed have substantially increased their businesses since the service launched in 2015.

Since opening its first restaurant in Edinburgh three years ago, popular restaurant BURGER has tripled its space - now operating three restaurants throughout the country - with a second site in Edinburgh and a third in St Andrews.

Citing the food delivery service as a key growth driver, the restaurant chain has revealed plans to continue its rapid expansion for the foreseeable future, aiming for up to 30 sites across the North-West within 4 years.

Evan Wells, Director of Operations at BURGER, commented: "Our partnership with Deliveroo has played an integral hand in helping us to increase the exposure of our brand, as well as massively contributing to the revenue growth across all of our restaurants. We're looking to rapidly grow over the next 3-4 years, with an aim for 30 units across the North of England and Scotland with the help of Deliveroo."

A further success story, Feed began working with Deliveroo as soon as it opened its first restaurant, and has since doubled its operations, opening a second unit in Edinburgh due to its success in just 18 months of opening.

Chris Grierson, Manager at Feed, said: "Since beginning our operations 18 months ago, we have now established two permanent sites thanks to our partnership with Deliveroo - our first, within the St Vincent Bar in Stockbridge, and our brand new bespoke "feed" Bar/Diner below Nightcap on York Place."

With £200m in additional revenue created for the UK restaurant industry in the past year, Deliveroo is inspiring a new generation of food entrepreneurs with more than 400 independent restaurants across Scotland signed up to the service to date.

Boutique brasseries Kenji Sushi, Boozy Cow and Sushiya are among the Deliveroo community with further Edinburgh based independents continuing to sign up to the service, aiming to replicate a growing number of success stories.

Caroline Hazlehurst, General Manager at Deliveroo, said: "We launched in Edinburgh, our first Scottish city, in 2015, and since then we have expanded to a further seven cities across the country.

"Deliveroo is now working with over 400 independent Scottish businesses, we're really proud that we can help them expand and grow as we do."
